About Casa Casabe
Casa Casabe supplies Casabe — an ancient, naturally gluten-free flatbread made from cassava. With roots tracing back to the Taíno people of the Caribbean, Casabe is a versatile staple that works with both sweet and savoury dishes.
Casabe is made by grating cassava, pressing out the liquid, and cooking the dried flour on a hot plate (a burén). The result is a crisp, shelf‑stable flatbread that has fed Caribbean communities for centuries.
In 2024, UNESCO inscribed the traditional knowledge and practices for the making and consumption of cassava bread on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (including the Dominican Republic). This recognition highlights Casabe as more than food — it is living heritage.
From the sun and warmth of the Dominican Republic to modern kitchens in the UK, Casa Casabe is here to make Casabe easy to discover, cook with, and share.
